Our New Playground and Equipment

Hoover Intergenerational Care, in collaboration with Zoom Recreation, has opened a new playground that emphasizes both child safety and environmental sustainability. This project highlights the use of recycled materials to create a safe playing environment while also promoting environmental stewardship for future generations.

A Commitment to Safety and Sustainability

On August 7th, Hoover Intergenerational Care celebrated the grand opening of its new playground. The project’s key feature is its use of recycled materials, which serve a dual purpose. According to Justin Lotz, Senior Project Manager of Zoom Recreation, the playground equipment and the safety surfacing beneath are made from recycled products. This not only provides a safe, cushioned area for children to play but also helps to divert waste from landfills.

Grand Opening and Community Involvement

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new playground was a community event, with Justin Lotz, Executive Director of Hoover Intergenerational Care, Faith E. Saunders, parents, and students all present to mark the occasion. This shared moment highlights the project's emphasis on the children's well-being and the collective effort to create a safe and sustainable environment for them to enjoy. The involvement of students in the opening ceremony sends a powerful message about the importance of environmental responsibility and community engagement, demonstrating to the next generation how recycled materials can be used to build a better future.
